Grace & Dotty · Handmade in England
Find your perfect fit — every Grace & Dotty hat is made to wear, not to struggle with
Step by step
Gather your tools
You need a flexible fabric or paper tape measure. A piece of string and a ruler works just as well — wrap, mark, then measure the string flat.
Position the tape
Place the tape measure around your head. It should sit just above your ears and across your forehead — approximately one finger-width above your eyebrows.
Read your measurement
Keep the tape firm but not tight — you want a snug, comfortable fit. Read the circumference in centimetres and match it to the size chart below.
Size chart
| Size | Head Circumference | Inches (approx.) | Fit guide |
|---|---|---|---|
| Small (S) | 55 cm | 21⅝ in | |
| Medium (M) | 57 cm | 22½ in | |
| Large (L) | 59 cm | 23¼ in | |
| Extra Large (XL) | 61 cm | 24 in |
If your measurement falls between two sizes, we recommend sizing up for comfort — particularly if you plan to wear your hat with a hat liner or over longer periods.
Good to know
Between sizes?
Size up. A slightly generous hat can be adjusted with a hat sizing band (available from most hat shops). A hat that is too small cannot be stretched without risk of damage.
Pure wool may settle slightly
Our hats are made from 100% Pure Wool Felt. After initial wear, the wool may ease and mould lightly to the shape of your head — offering an even better fit over time.
How a fedora should fit
A correctly fitted fedora should sit just above your ears, level across your forehead. It should feel secure without pressing — comfortable enough to wear all day at the races or in the field.
